Sermon - Sunday January 4, 2010

Theme for the year: Lord, in 2010, help me to make my performance greater than my promises by obedience and with thanksgiving.

Scriptures: Psalms:
116:12-14
Psalms 100:1-5
Luke17:11-19; Luke 19:12-27

Points brought out in sermon:

•I love the Lord, because he heard my cry when I was in trouble and desperation and he delivered me.

•We must have that love for the Lord, God’s love (the (agape love) not fleshly man’s love.

•We make God so many promises and than don’t fulfill them. Every year we make our New Years resolutions and forget them before the day is over.

•God is looking to see our actions.

•We have so many sad saints. We’ve got heaven to look forward to; Jesus to see, we ought to be glad about our salvation.

•We are to be a light and witness to the world. We should come into the gates with thanksgiving and enter into his courts (church) with praise.

Where He Wants Me To Be

Scripture: Philippians 1:6, St. John 10:1-17; 25-29, Acts 1:4-8

Thought: I’m not where I ought to be, I’m not where I want to be, I’m not where I use to be, but I’m confident that God is working in me to bring me where He wants me to be.

Points brought out in sermon:

  • There’s a difference in the voice of the Lord and the voice of the devil.
  • God’s child will flee from the voice of a stranger.
  • If God started a good work in you, He will make His way plain unto you. God chose us from the foundation of the world.
  • The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy you. Jesus came that you might have life.
  • I’m glad that Jesus paid that debt sin for me.
  • The devil tries to break your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Jesus said there are other sheep out there that He must bring in, so we must sound the gospel.
  • I want to know the Lord in time, so He will know me in eternity.
  • Your power of yourself is not sufficient to overcome the devil. It takes only the power of the Holy Ghost to defeat the adversary.
